Hello, curious human. Thanks for stopping by – transparency is part of what we do here, so let’s talk about how your data is handled when you visit my little corner of the internet.
This privacy policy explains (in plain language, no legalese) what I do with your personal information and how I keep it safe. If you still have questions after reading this, just pop me an email at rafaela@yellowcreativestudio.net.
1. Who’s behind this studio?
That would be me, Rafaela Mota Lemos—writer, translator, content strategist and founder of Yellow Creative Studio. I’m based in Lisbon, Portugal. You can reach me at rafaela@yellowcreativestudio.net and I’ll respond in one business day, except if I’m on holidays. Because, you know.
2. What kind of info do I collect?
I collect only the personal data that’s relevant and respectful to you. That might include:
- Your name and email (if you fill out a contact form, sign up for a newsletter, or send me a message)
- Your IP address or location (just the general stuff that analytics tools gather)
- Any lovely details you choose to share with me when you work with me
3. Where do I get this info?
Mostly, straight from you. If you contact me, sign up for updates, or request a service, you’re voluntarily giving me your info. I don’t buy data, scrape it, or do anything shady.
4. Why do I have your info?
Here’s what I use it for:
- To respond to your messages or project inquiries
- To send you my business newsletter (once it launches, and only if you’ve signed up)
- To keep track of client work (so I know who I’m working with and how to send invoices)
- To understand what’s working on this website (via basic analytics)
All of this is done with your consent or because I need the info to deliver what you’ve asked for (like a proposal, a quote, or some creative magic).
5. What’s the legal basis for this?
Under data protection laws, I rely on:
- Consent when you sign up for emails or submit a form
- Contractual obligation when I need to process your info to provide a service
- Legitimate interest for things like improving the website or keeping in touch with lovely clients
6. Do I share your data?
Nope. I don’t sell, rent, or trade your personal info. I may share it with trusted services that help run my business (like email platforms or invoicing tools), but they’re GDPR-compliant and won’t do anything dodgy with it.
7. How is your info stored?
Securely. I use password-protected tools and devices, and cloud platforms with proper encryption. If we work together, your details are stored in professional software designed for freelancers like me—not in random documents or scribbled Post-its.
8. How long do I keep your info?
Not forever! I keep client and subscriber info only as long as necessary:
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe (you can do that anytime)
- Client info: for up to 5 years (for tax and accounting reasons)
- Emails: periodically cleaned out, but archived if they’re part of a work trail
When I no longer need your info, I delete it securely.
9. What about cookies?
Ah, cookies 🍪 – not the one with chocolate chips, sadly. These are small bits of data stored on your device when you visit this website. They help me see what pages people are enjoying (or skipping), so I can improve the experience.
I only use basic, privacy-friendly analytics tools. If I ever use anything fancier, you’ll be the first to know, and I’ll make sure you can opt in or out.
You can always manage or delete cookies in your browser settings. No hard feelings.
10. Your rights
You’ve got rights! You can:
- Ask what data I have about you
- Request corrections or deletions
- Withdraw your consent at any time
- File a complaint if you feel I’ve been unfair (though I hope you’ll talk to me first)
11. Anything else?
This policy might get updated from time to time—especially if laws or tools change. The most current version will always be here, with the last updated date at the top.
Questions?
I’m all ears (and inbox). Email me at rafaela@yellowcreativestudio.net if you’d like to chat more about privacy, data, or anything else human and kind.
